We were invited by our friends at Chineasy to help launch their new app, Storybuilder. The app lets children (and curious grown-ups) build their own stories using Chineasy’s beautifully illustrated Chinese characters, learning the language almost effortlessly as they play.

To promote it, we created a short animated film that feels like a story being imagined in real time. Our approach was simple, linear and joyfully childlike: “this happens… then this… oh, and then this!” We brought some of Chineasy’s best-loved illustrated characters to life, celebrating what makes the Chineasy method so popular.

Alongside the launch film, we also produced a video tutorial voiced by Chineasy founder ShaoLan herself. It walks new users through how to start building their own stories inside the app.

This was a playful project for a brilliant product, a perfect match for our love of character and a real joy to work on.
