NUA Films (a collaboration between Scripture Union Ireland and the Jesus Film Project) creates accessible, creative resources that help people explore faith.

Led by Jonny Somerville and director Greg Fromholz, the series follows the pilgrimage of The Camino de Santiago in Spain, exploring spiritual questions along the way.

Our role was to design and create a series of short animated sequences for each episode, visualising key Bible stories in a way that complemented the tone and rhythm of the live-action narrative.

The brief called for a distinctive, heavily stylised look. We were inspired by GCSE-style art (slightly misproportioned, colourful and full of character) and the signage found along the Camino trail. By embracing that raw, imperfect aesthetic, we could focus on strong composition and storytelling, letting the artwork carry the emotion rather than relying on complex motion.

We worked closely with the edit team to ensure the animations blended seamlessly with the live-action footage, creating moments that felt like a natural part of the journey.

A wonderful mix of art, faith and travel. It was a project we loved being part of.
