Music Video

YEAR:

2019

When Rend Collective launched their new children’s project, Rend Co Kids, they asked us to help bring it to life visually.

We began by designing a colourful illustrated version of the band for the debut album Sparkle. Pop. Rampage. We then dived straight into the main event: a full music video for the first single, “King of Me” (now the album’s most-streamed track).

They wanted something fun, playful and unapologetically joyful. Taking visual inspiration from old-school felt board Sunday school banners, we created a full cast of characters including Max (our main character), a giant, a lion, a whale, and a tiny penguin who pops up throughout.

We brought the video to life in frame-by-frame stop motion, an ambitious choice, especially with a turnaround of just over a month... but it was completely worth it.

As part of the wider campaign, we also created an encore video for their live shows. It was a self-aware comedy moment where the animated band poke fun at classic encore conventions before introducing Rend Co Kids back to the stage.

Joyful, handcrafted and slightly unhinged in the best possible way. This one was as fun to make as it is to watch.
