CLIENT:
Rend Collective
PROJECT TYPE:
Online Explainer
YEAR:
2018
In 2018 we teamed up with Rend Collective and our good friend, director Greg Fromholz, to create a playful, characterful explainer exploring a surprisingly simple question: if “gospel” literally means good news, why doesn’t it always sound like it?
Rend wrote the script, and our job was to bring it to life in a way that felt warm, human and genuinely joyful. We leaned into simplicity with a minimal colour palette and charming line-drawings. The letters G O S P E L served as the main characters, each with eyes, limbs and plenty of personality. They react to the narration, keeping the tone light, approachable and quietly disarming.
The result is an animation that feels light-hearted yet sincere with a good dose of slapslick for good measure.
