We were invited to create a range of animations for the Chineasy language-learning app, a beautifully designed platform that helps beginners and intermediate learners read Mandarin Chinese through illustrated character-based storytelling. The app went on to be featured as App of the Day, included in the App Store’s ‘Apps We Love’ collection, and even awarded Editor’s Choice.

Our role was to help bring the learning experience to life, crafting motion that felt playful, intuitive and full of personality. Working within Chineasy’s distinctive illustration style, we produced a series of micro-animations and educational moments built to enhance the app experience.

It was also our first introduction to Lottie animation, exporting directly from After Effects to lightweight .json files, enabling beautifully smooth, native animations in-app without heavy load times. A technical game-changer, and a creative project we were proud to be part of.
